Mount Sterling is a village located in Madison County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,865.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,865 people, 780 households, and 497 families residing in the village. The population density is 734.8/km² (1,897.9/mi²). There are 828 housing units at an average density of 326.2/km² (842.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.32% White, 0.21% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.86% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 780 households out of which 32.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.7% are married couples living together, 14.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% are non-families. 32.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 3.01.
