Morgan Morgan

Col. Morgan Morgan (born in Wales in 1688, died at Bunker Hill in 1766) founded the first permanent white settlement at Mill Creek in what is now West Virginia sometime between 1726 and 1731.

He was also a clergyman in the Anglican faith and is credited with building the first church in West Virginia.

He had eight children with his wife Catherine Garretson. One son, Zackquill Morgan, later founded Morgantown, West Virginia.

He is buried in Berkeley, West Virginia.

Francis Harrison Pierpont, Governor of Virginia and later West Virginia was a direct descendant of Morgan Morgan. Morgan Morgan's father Charles Morgan was a descendant of Emperor Constantine of Rome who legalized Christianity. Morgan also descended from William the Conqueror.
