Mohammad Tofik Rahim (b. 1953) is the current (as of 2004) Iraqi Minister of Industry and Mines, part of the cabinet appointed by the Interim Iraq Governing Council in September 2003. Originally from Sulaymaniyah, Rahim qualified as an engineer at the University of Bath (United Kingdom) Rahim was leader in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and former Deputy Speaker of the first Kurdish parliament in the 1990s. He also held numerous ministerial portfolios in subsequent governments in the region such as the Humanitarian, Justice, Transport and Development portfolios.
