Metal music
|
Metal is a genre of music that derives from rock and electric blues, with great use of wah-wah, distorted guitars and loudy bass.
Subgenres
Metal music has a number of subgenres, as there are for rock music as whole, and the classification of each is often times difficult. Heavy metal is the progenitor, but the genre includes black metal, death metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, industrial metal, speed metal, power metal and others. Other subgenres aren't considered by many critics to be part of metal music, but others consider them a full component of metal. Those genres are hair metal, glam metal, and nu metal, among others.
