Mayville is a village located in Chautauqua County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,756.
The Village of Mayville was incorporated in 1830 and is in the Town of Chautauqua.

Geography
Mayville is located at 42°15'5" North, 79°30'0" West (42.251402, -79.500015)Template:GR.
Mayville is located at the north end of Chautauqua Lake at the junction of Routes 394 and 430.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,756 people, 686 households, and 399 families residing in the village. The population density is 337.3/km² (875.0/mi²). There are 860 housing units at an average density of 165.2/km² (428.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.85% White, 3.64% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. 1.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 686 households out of which 27.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.8% are non-families. 36.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.22 and the average family size is 2.92.
In the village the population is spread out with 21.8% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 114.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $32,250, and the median income for a family is $45,595. Males have a median income of $30,574 versus $24,028 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,561. 10.2% of the population and 5.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.5% of those under the age of 18 and 8.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
