Master of the Senate: The Years of Lyndon Johnson is the third volume of Robert Caro's biography of Lyndon Johnson, covering the years he spent in the United States Senate, especially his struggle to pass a civil rights bill addressing African-Americans, the first such bill since Reconstruction.
It was published by Alfred A. Knopf on April 23, 2002 to great critical acclaim, and won the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award.
