Market Street runs the whole length of the town. The east west divider lies at what is referred to the S Bend.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.8 mi²). 1.9 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,689 people, 1,092 households, and 723 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,384.3/km² (3,587.0/mi²). There are 1,168 housing units at an average density of 601.3/km² (1,558.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 95.83% White, 2.49% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 0.82% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,092 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the borough the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.7 males.
