Macross Zero

Macross Zero is an anime prequel OVA to Macross consisting of 5 episodes. Set one year before the events in the beginning of Macross, the series sheds light on the U.N. Wars, the native inhabitants of Mayan Island, and their link to the coming struggle against the Zentradi. Roy Focker, a major character from the original Macross also makes an appearance in this series.
The animation for Macross Zero is a combination of computer-generated imagery and cel animation.
The combat resembles a Warsaw Pact vs NATO war, with the UN forces flying F-14s and anti-UN forces flying MiG-29s, until the transforming variable fighters are introduced.
