Macedon is a village located in the Town of Macedon in Wayne County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,496.
The Village of Macedon is in the south-central part of the town.
Geography
The village is located on the Erie Canal.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.81% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,496 people, 558 households, and 412 families residing in the village. The population density is 473.4/km² (1,222.6/mi²). There are 580 housing units at an average density of 183.6/km² (474.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.26% White, 1.00% Black or African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 0.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 558 households out of which 39.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 22.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.11.
