MOS

Mos is the singluar form of the more commonly used plural noun Mores.
The acronym MOS may mean several things, depending on context:
- Ma On Shan - a new town in Shatin, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China
- Mambo Open Source, website content management system.
- Maintenance Operating System - See maintenance OS.
- Mean Opinion Score
- Media Object Server - XML protocol for television system automation.
- Member of the Opposite Sex.
- Metal Oxide Semiconductor - see MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor).
- Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) - is used by the Army and Marines for their enlisted jobs.
- Mittelstandskinder Ohne Strom - a psychedelic trance (form of electronic music) project from Germany.
- Mobile Operating System - a Soviet clone of Unix. See MOS (operating system).
- MOS Technology - now defunct electronics company owned by Commodore International.
- Mit Out Sound or Mit Out Sprache cameras - MOS is a designation used on clapper boards to denote that no sound is being recorded in sync with the film. MOS cameras are film cameras without crystal-pulse capability, which is required to maintain a constant speed for sync sound. (Some British cinematographers maintain that "MOS" actually stands for "Motion Omit Sound." Some others say it stands for "Minus Optical Sound".)
