Logosyllabic refers to a writing system in which symbols can both stand for both sounds, usually syllables and logograms. There is also a third class of symbols called determinatives which are silent and simply clarify the meaning of phonetically written out (or ambiguous) words. Logosyllabaries can contain between 150 to over 2000 symbols easily.
