Local multipoint distribution service
|
Local Multipoint Distribution Service is a broadband wireless access technology that uses microwave signals operating between the 26GHz and 29GHz bands.
LMDS is a point-to-multipoint service, hence is typically deployed for access by multiple parties. Throughput capacity and distance of the link depends on the modulation method used - either phase-shift keying or amplitude modulation. Links up to 5 miles from the base station are possible.
