Lincoln Bartlett

Lincoln Bartlett, is a character in James Clavell's novel Noble House.
Bartlett is a scrappy, ruthless, and devious American businessman who founded Par-Con Industries, an industrial conglomerate, building it up into a company worth hundreds of millions. He is a devotee on Sun Tzu and views business as a kind of war. He believes in corporate espionage and misleading his partners as he vies for advantage. But he is an honest businessman according to the rules that he accepts, and he does not engage in illegal activities.
He is in love with his corporate Vice President, Casey Tcholok. The two have agreed to not act on their feelings for a period of seven years, in which time they will work together to get rich; then they will decide what to do about their relationship.
Bartlett wants to expand into Asia, and recognizes that he needs to partner with an established firm to do this. He believes that he will need to seize control of that firm, and so tries to manipulate events so that either Struan's or Rothwell-Gornt will be left in such a precarious position that he can take over on his own terms.
