Le Fjord-du-Saguenay (The Saguenay Fjord) is a Regional County Municipality in northeastern Quebec, Canada in the region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The seat is in the City of Saguenay which is actually a separate census division. The RCM is named for the Saguenay River which protrudes out of the Saint Lawrence River like a fjord does through the southern section of the RCM. It was created in 1982, consisting mostly of the former County of Chicoutimi except for a few Municipalities which were taken from parts of Lac-Saint-Jean-Est County. In 2002, the cities of Chicoutimi, Jonquière, La Baie and the surrounding area amalagamated and became the City of Saguenay at which point they separated from the RCM.
