Laugardalsvöllur is the national stadium of Iceland. It is located in Reykjavík, and seats 7,000 individuals, 3,500 each in stands on opposite sides of the field. One stand was constructed in 1958 and the other in 1997. Additional capacity can be added by bringing in two temporary stands seating 1,500 each.
The largest attendance ever seen by the stadium was 18,000 in 1963 for a match between Valur and Benfica, then one of the powers of European football. Since the 1997 renovations, the largest crowd was 10,500 for a 1998 match between Iceland and France.
