Lanús, city in eastern Argentina, in Buenos Aires Province, a suburb of the city of Buenos Aires.
A major industrial center of Greater Buenos Aires and served by railroad, the city has industries producing chemicals, armaments, textiles, paper, leather and rubber goods, wire, apparel, and oils and lubricants. It also has tanneries and vegetable and fruit canneries. Lanús is the site of several technical schools. Population (1991) 468,561.
Its most famous son is footballer Diego Maradona.
