Lam Ching Ying

Lam Ching Ying (林正英; Lam4 Jing1 Ying1) (December 27, 1952 - November 8, 1997) was a Chinese actor.
Born in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, he had a background in the Peking Opera under Madame Fan Fok Fa. One of Bruce Lee's assistant action directors. Made famous from being a Taoist priest that slew vampires in his movies.
His master Fan Fok Fa also taught Chin Kar Lok, Chin Siu Ho, Chin Yuet Sang, Mars (Fo Sing a.k.a Cheung Wing Faat), Meng Hoi, Chan Lung, Chan Wui Ngai, John Lone, Cheung Faat, Stephen Tung Wai, and many others.
After the sucesses of Mr. Vampire (the movie made him a big star) he went to America under a Golden Harvest project called Demon Hunters which was supposed to be an American version of Mr. Vampire made with Tanya Roberts. The project was axed due to the western egos and the language difficulties.
In 1997 he made a highly successful tv series for ATV called Vampire Expert. He was paid one million Hong Kong dollars an episode. Unfortunately, he developed liver cancer and stayed away from the public until he died on November 8, 1997.
