Lamé is a type of brocaded clothing fabric with inwoven metal threads, typically of gold or silver, giving it a metallic sheen.
Lamé fabric is used for fencing jackets in foil and épée, to allow an electrical connection between the weapon and the jacket to indicate a hit.
