Lake County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 11,058. Its county seat is Two Harbors6.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 7,746 km² (2,991 mi²). 5,437 km² (2,099 mi²) of it is land and 2,309 km² (892 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 29.81% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 11,058 people, 4,646 households, and 3,140 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (5/mi²). There are 6,840 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (3/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.99% White, 0.10% Black or African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,646 households out of which 27.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.80% are married couples living together, 6.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.40% are non-families. 28.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.83.
In the county the population is spread out with 22.30% under the age of 18, 6.60% from 18 to 24, 24.50% from 25 to 44, 26.70% from 45 to 64, and 20.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 99.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.60 males.
