Lake Buchanan
|
Lake Buchanan was formed by the construction of Buchanan Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority to provid a water supply for the region and to provide hydroelectric power. With the completion of Buchanan Dam in 1939, Lake Buchanan was the first of the Texas Highland Lakes to be formed and, because it covers over 22,000 acres (89 km²), is also the largest one.
The Lake provides not only one of the best areas for outdoor recreation, it also serves as the winter home for over 25 American Bald Eagles.
