Some families have taken on this name and have added the letter 'i' to the end, which according to Hungarian grammar, implies a belonging. The surname Körösi was later changed to Körössy by some families as a result of a specific tradition. This tradition, caried out by royalty, implies the granting of an honorary title on that family by replacing the i at the end of the surname with sy. The surname has also been anglicized from Körössy to Korossy by families migrating to countries where the alphabet did not support the letter ö.
