Kevin Bloody Wilson, all but legendary in his native Australia, is a Comedy singer/songwriter. Without the aid of radio or TV coverage, Kevin has built up an incredibly loyal following all over the world, from Australia to the United Kingdom and beyond.
Although he identifies himself with Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, where he was an electrician in the gold mines, he was actually born in Sydney in 1947. His real name is Dennis Bryant, but in the 1970's he fronted his own band called Bryan Dennis and the Country Club. He also used the name Bryan Dennis when he hosted a country music show on 6KG in Sydney from 1973 - 1980.
He moved to Perth and began playing bawdy songs at pubs and football clubs, and in 1984 he put together a cassette of his songs called 'Your Average Australian Yobbo', which he sold at gigs and by mail order. He managed to sell 22,000 copies of the cassette before it was eventually transferred to LP, where it went on to sell many thousands more.
This was followed by 'Kev's Back (The Return of the Yobbo)' (1985), 'Born Again Piss Tank' (1987), 'My Australian Roots' (1989), 'The Loveable Larrikin' (best-of) (1990), 'The Far-Canal Album' (best-of) (1990), 'Let's Call Him Kev!' (1991), 'The Worst of Kevin Bloody Wilson' (best-of) (1992), 'Nashville Trash' (1993), 'Backout From the Outback' (best-of) (1994), 'Let Loose Live in London' (1993), 'Kev's Kristmas' (1996), 'Kalgoorlie Love Songs' (1998), 'The Second Kummin' of Kev' (2001), 'Let Loose Live in the Outback' (2002) and '20 Years of Kev' (best-of) (2004).
His songs generally consist of irreverent humour and plenty of swearing with eclectic musical backing. Often Kev has performed unrecorded songs at live shows. For example, when the Canadian authorities objected to Kev's well known usage of the word cunt in his songs, Kev opened his show in Toronto with a new song called You Can't Say Cunt In Canada and played this song many more times on the tour. On a later tour he performed a song called Absolute Cunt Of A Day.
Kev's recordings are difficult to buy from stores because Kev mainly sells them through his website and has licensed them to mail order companies in different countries to provide easier distribution.
In 2003 he placed a free mp3 on his website called The Shane Warne Song, a song about the controversial Australian cricketer.
