West Kendall is a census-designated place and an unincorporated suburban community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 38,034.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²). 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.12% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 38,034 people, 11,759 households, and 9,807 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 4,331.9/km² (11,218.6/mi²). There are 12,229 housing units at an average density of 1,392.8/km² (3,607.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 83.37% White, 4.23% African American, 0.19% Native American, 1.48% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 6.44% from other races, and 4.25% from two or more races. 79.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,759 households out of which 49.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% are married couples living together, 18.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.6% are non-families. 11.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.23 and the average family size is 3.47.
In the community the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 34.9% from 25 to 44, 18.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.7 males.
The median income for a household in the community is $38,715, and the median income for a family is $39,564. Males have a median income of $30,082 versus $23,695 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $14,806. 15.4% of the population and 13.3% of families are below the poverty line.
