Kashmiri Pandit
|
A Kashmiri Pandit is a name used to refer to a sect of Hindus who ancestrally originate from Kashmir. They emigrated gradually as Kashmir became more predominantly Muslim. Many of them also had to flee the religious persecution and harrassment of cross-border terrorists who seek to rid Kashmir, considered one of the most holy sites of Hinduism, of their original inhabitants. Jawaharlal Nehru and his family were Kashmiri Pandits from Allahabad.
