June Palmer Also known as June Power, (born 1 August 1940, died 6 January 2004) was possibly the most famous Harrison Marks model in the 1960s, featuring in his publications Kamera and Solo. She was one of the most popular and new fans from all corners of the globe still delight to discover her photographs - which still enthrall many of her original admirers. She had classic girl-next-door look, but measuring tape read 38-23-37.
She began work as a topless dancer at the Windmill Theatre in London, and graduated to bit parts in movies, including "The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders" (1965) and "Games That Lovers Play" (1971). Although she stopped modeling for magazine in the late 60's, she continued to do some private modeling for London's various camera clubs for a few years after. A large numer of her nudie-cutie loops were compiled in a single volume, 1967's "The Naked World of Harrison Marks."
Although she was most promimently associated with George Harrison Marks, it was photographer Arthur Howell who discovered, and married her. They were together for about ten years and together founded and ran ‘Strobe Studio’ in Clapham, South London.
Photographer Irv Carsten said this about Palmer in the March 1962 issue of Modern Man, "I felt ashamed using an automatic camera. Her posing is second nature, she's beautiful from any angle, and without camera settings to make, there's nothing to do but watch."
She married Arthur Howell (78) in 1993, she divorced him in 2000 and maried again, Arthur died in August 2003 and June at the beginning of next year. She is greatly mourned.
Nostalgia Publications has reissued many of June's photographs by Marks and Howell, one publication being devoted to a quite unique assortment of poses taken on holiday in Corsica and various other Meditteranean locations. June radiates health and happiness as she poses for her husband. A perfect situation for using body oil which, as you are all aware, accentuates June Palmer's curves and splendour to perfection.....Nude and oiled in the privacy of their villa, topless and nude as June Palmer sits on the beach, draped in open negligee as she sits on the villa steps, bikini clad for the beach bar, nude as June Palmer stands in the sea. Wonderful.
