John Tebbutt (May 25 1834 – November 29 1916) was an Australian astronomer.
He is credited with discovering the "Great Comet of 1861" (C/1861 J1).
His face appears on the reverse of the Australian 100-dollar banknote, and a crater on the Moon is named after him.
In 1905 he was awarded the Jackson-Gwilt Medal by the Royal Astronomical Society.
