Ixonia (CDP), Wisconsin

Ixonia CDP is a census-designated place within the town of Ixonia in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. The United States Census Bureau defines the CDP as the more densely populated central settlement of village area in the town, and reports population and demographic detail sepsarately. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 642.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census, the CDP has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 642 people, 237 households, and 181 families residing in the settlement. The population density is 83.7/km² (216.8/mi²). There are 248 housing units at an average density of 32.3 persons/km² (83.7 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.91% White, 0.16% Native American, 0.16% Asian, and 0.78% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 237 households out of which 37.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.4% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 23.6% are non-families. 18.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.10.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 110.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.3 males.

The median income for a household is $50,341, and the median income for a family is $55,781. Males have a median income of $40,912 versus $24,844 for females. The per capita income for the town is $21,509. 1.1% of the population and 1.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 10.3% are 65 or older.
