Geography
Ixelles is located in south of Brussels and is divided into two parts by the Louise Avenue (French: avenue Louise, Dutch: Louizalaan), which is part of the Bruxelles-Ville municipality. The west part of the municipality (the smallest of the two parts) includes the Bailli Street (French: rue du Bailli, Dutch: Baljuwstraat) and extends roughly from the Louise Avenue to the Brugmann Avenue (French: avenue Brugmann, Dutch: Brugmannlaan). The east part of the municipality (which is the largest part) includes the sites of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Matongé (a neighbourhood with a large African population) and the Eugène Flagey Square (French: Place Eugène Flagey, Dutch: Eugène Flageyplein).
The Bois de la Cambre (French) (or Ter Kamerenbos in Dutch) is located just south of Ixelles.
