Infravision

In fantasy fiction, infravision is infrared vision; it is vision that, by detecting infrared radiation, senses heat rather than light. Creatures with infravision are able to see in complete darkness.
In the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game, elves and dwarves have limited infravision. Many creatures in the Underdark, such as drow, have complete infravision. In the 3rd edition of Dungeons & Dragons infravision has been replaced by darkvision, which works differently; whereas infravision enables a creature to see in the infrared spectrum, darkvision allows it to see in the dark but only in shades of grey.
