There's a lot more to this story than I have put on my web pages, and a lot of misleading commentary in the few books that bother to discuss it. It's a case where you have to go back to the original sources and read in the context of the times. Ord-Hume isn't always reliable. Dircks is generally better, but hard to obtain. -- Donald E.
