Ilkka Tuomi
|
To date, Ilkka Tuomi is a staff member of the Institute For Prospective Technological Studies. He wrote books entitled Networks of Innovation: Change and Meaning in the age of the Internet and Corporate Knowledge: Theory and Practice of Intelligent Organizations.
Tuomi has written several articles in First Monday, an important peer reviewed journal on the Internet. The most famous of these articles is probably The Lives and Death of Moore's Law , which was attacked by Raymond Kurzweil who disagreed with Tuomi's analysis of Moore's law. Tuomi wrote a rebuttal, Kurzweil attacked the rebuttal, and Tuomi wrote yet another rebuttal.
Tuomi's view of Moore's law is that it is an expression of technological determinism, used sloppily, and to a large extent not properly founded in empirical studies.
