INHD and INHD2 are subsidiaries of iN DEMAND, a leading Pay Per View (PPV) and Video on Demand (VOD) provider in the United States. The company is owned by Comcast iN DEMAND Holdings, Inc., Cox Communications Inc., and Time Warner Entertainment-Advance/Newhouse partnership.
INHD and INHD2 are dedicated High Definition TV channels available only on Cable TV in the USA. The content of both channels are available in wide screen, high-resolution format and will also feature Dolby Digital 5.1 audio when available. While the audio is equivalent to most DVDs, the picture quality is superior. iN DEMAND is working with major digital file-server vendors and set-top manufacturers to deliver its HD content in the 1080i format.
The INHD channels, which are 24 hour, 7 day per week linear networks are not pay per view channels, rather they are available to cable subscribers with HD service in several cable systems across the USA, usually at no additional charge other than the cost of the HD cable tuner. The channels feature several hundred hours of movies, sports, and general interest programming that maximize the HD experience.
iN DEMAND has agreements with The Tennis Channel, The Hallmark Channel, College Sports Television Network, and the Anime Network to carry their content when available in HD. Additionally, INHD has exclusive rights to historic Olympic footage, approximately 20 IMAX films, Paramount films, The Twilight Zone featuring Forest Whitaker, and Major League Baseball for the 2004 - 2005 season.
iN DEMAND's linear HDTV channels have featured the film of blind mountaineer Erik Weihenmayer's world renowned climb of Mt. Everest in 2001 entitled "Farther Than The Eye Can See." The film was the first HD documentary from the top of Everest. It was photographed and directed by Michael Brown at a cost $1.5 million sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind and Allegra. It was produced by Outside Television in association with Outdoor Living Network (OLN) and Aperture Films Ltd.
INHD and INHD2 are available on Bright House, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, and Time Warner cable systems. Further information about INHD can be found on the Internet at http://www.inhd.com.
