Hunts Point is a peninsula and a neighborhood in the Bronx borough of New York City. The peninsula extends west from Long Island into a bend of the East River. As a neighborhood, there are about 11,000 residents (in 2003), while rail and shipyard terminals there employ about 16,000 workers. The neighborhood is bounded by Westchester Avenue to the north, the Bronx River to the east, the East River to the south, and Prospect Avenue to the west. The Longwood neighborhood is contained within the borders of Hunts Point.
Hunts Point is best-known for its vast Wholesale Market, and more notoriously, its prostitution industry.
