Hugh Franklin Culverhouse
|
Hugh Franklin Culverhouse (1919 – 1994) was a U.S. football administrator. He was the owner of Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 1974 (with the team actually beginning play two years later) and 1994. He bore an uncanny resemblance — at least facially — to former United States Senator Jacob Javits, and the two were often confused.
As an NFL club owner, Culverhouse was noted for his strong stance against the players' union during both of the strikes the league experienced in the 1980s.
