According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 58.3 km² (22.5 mi²). 22.9 km² (8.9 mi²) of it is land and 35.4 km² (13.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 60.64% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 993 people, 491 households, and 341 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 43.3/km² (112.1/mi²). There are 1,409 housing units at an average density of 61.4/km² (159.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.89% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. 0.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 491 households out of which 11.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% are married couples living together, 3.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.01 and the average family size is 2.38.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 9.9% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 14.2% from 25 to 44, 38.0% from 45 to 64, and 34.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 60 years. For every 100 females there are 101.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $38,611, and the median income for a family is $41,827. Males have a median income of $32,250 versus $27,500 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $24,550. 7.0% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.8% of those under the age of 18 and 5.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
