Latin America is characterized as those countries in North America, Central America, The Caribbean and South America whose national language is Spanish, Portuguese, or French. However, French speaking Canada is not included. Anglophone Canada, Belize, Guyana, and several islands in the Caribbean, who have as their main language English, do not belong to Latin America, and may be grouped under the term Anglo-America. Also, Suriname and the Dutch West Indies, which speak Dutch, also do not belong to Latin America.
