Het Parool is an Amsterdam-based daily newspaper. It was founded as a resistance paper during World War II.
Until January 1, 2003, Het Parool was part of PCM Uitgevers NV, a publishing company which is the owner of De Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad, Algemeen Dagblad, and Trouw.
Its main shareholders today are Stichting Het Parool and the Belgium based Vlaamse Persgroep, owned by Christian van Thillo. The rest of the shares are owned by its own personnel.
The newspaper changed from broadsheet to tabloid on March 31, 2004. Its daily circulation is about 89,000 copies.
