Herman Jacob Mankiewicz (November 7, 1897—March 5, 1953) was a Polish-American legendary Hollywood screenwriter. He won an Academy Award for his collaboration with Orson Welles on the writing for Citizen Kane, and was also known for his work on the original Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Pride of the Yankees. He was the older brother of Joseph L. Mankiewicz.
He received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1917.
