Grand Mufti Sheikh Hassan Khaled (d. May 16, 1989) was the leader of Lebanon's Sunni Muslim community.
As a grand mufti, he presided over Islamic courts in Lebanon for 23 years, and served as part of the Islamic Coalition, a body which included past government members of Lebanon. He was considered a moderate. However, on May 16, 1989, a 300-pound car bomb was detonated next to Khaled's car as he drove through Beirut. Khaled died, as did 21 others.
He was mourned as a victim of the Lebanese Civil War, and some suspected Syrian intelligence agents were behind the assassination.
