Glendale is a city located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 13,367.
Geography
Glendale is located at 43°7'48" North, 87°55'40" West (43.130060, -87.927719)Template:GR.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.5 km² (6.0 mi²). 15.0 km² (5.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.18% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 13,367 people, 5,772 households, and 3,515 families residing in the city. The population density is 891.4/km² (2,307.4/mi²). There are 5,974 housing units at an average density of 398.4/km² (1,031.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 86.76% White, 8.13% African American, 0.23% Native American, 2.96% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,772 households out of which 24.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% are non-families. 33.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.20 and the average family size is 2.84.
In the city the population is spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 24.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $55,306, and the median income for a family is $68,429. Males have a median income of $45,670 versus $36,334 for females. The per capita income for the city is $30,328. 4.0% of the population and 2.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.2% of those under the age of 18 and 6.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
