Freedom Fighters is the name of a minor DC Comics comic book superhero team made up of characters acquired from the defunct company, Quality Comics, and the short-lived comic book series of the same name featuring those characters.
The members include:
(An earlier Freedom Fighters team had been killed on December 7, 1941. This comprised of the Invisible Hood, Magno, Miss America, Neon the Unknown, and the Red Torpedo. This was subsequently partly retconned away, and Miss America, at least, has been shown as part of the main team.)
The DC version of the characters were said to reside on the parallel world of "Earth-X," where World War II never ended. The original Golden Age version of the team (which the new version contradicted) was said to be based on Earth-Q (for "Quality").
Since the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Freedom Fighters have been based in the main DC Universe, and were part of the All-Star Squadron.
A modern version of the team has appeared as an auxillary of the new JSA. This team consisted of:
- Black Condor II
- Damage
- Human Bomb
- Iron Munro
- The Patriot (modern version of Uncle Sam, later reverted to his former identity)
- Phantom Lady II
- The Ray II
