Frank McCourt (born August 19, 1930, New York City) is an Irish-American teacher and author. He was born in New York City and grew up in Limerick City, Ireland. Eventually he returned to the United States and earned a degree from New York University. He taught English at Stuyvesant High School in New York City.
He received the Pulitzer prize and National Book Award for his memoir Angela's Ashes. He is also the author of 'Tis.
His brother Malachy McCourt is also a memoirist.
