Flag of Ukrainian SSR
|
This flag was adopted by the Ukrainian SSR on November 21, 1949.
Prior to this, the flag was red with the gold hammer and sickle beneath the gold Cyrillic characters УРСР (URSR) in a sans-serif font in the top-left corner.
Between 1937 and the adoption of the above flag in the 1940s, the flag was the same, but the hammer and sickle was much smaller and above the Cyrillic characters, which were in a serif font.
In the 1930s, the flag was red with the gold Cyrillic characters УССР (USSR) in a sans-serif font, and a gold border.
Prior to that, from 1919, the flag was the same, but without the gold border.
