Ferrysburg, Michigan

Ferrysburg is a city located in Ottawa County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,040.
Spring Lake Township borders the city on the north and east, though it is politically independent of the township. The village of Spring Lake is located to the southeast, on the opposite side of Spring Lake from Ferrysburg. The city of Grand Haven is located to the south, on the opposite side of the Grand River. Lake Michigan is to the west of the city.
U.S. Highway 31 passes north-south through the city and Michigan State Highway 104 has its western terminus at US 31 in Ferrysburg.

The city is situated on the north side of the Grand River at its mouth on Lake Michigan. The harbor of Grand Haven and Spring Lake form the southern boundary of the city.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.2 km² (3.6 mi²). 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 16.57% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,040 people, 1,315 households, and 853 families residing in the city. The population density is 395.2/km² (1,022.2/mi²). There are 1,501 housing units at an average density of 195.1/km² (504.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.35% White, 0.59% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.89% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 1.28% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,315 households out of which 27.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.0% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% are non-families. 29.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.31 and the average family size is 2.86.
In the city the population is spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $53,622, and the median income for a family is $65,231. Males have a median income of $42,875 versus $27,270 for females. The per capita income for the city is $31,254. 3.5% of the population and 1.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.4% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
