Feltham is a place in the London Borough of Hounslow.
Lower Feltham is an area of Feltham that covers approximately 0.25 sq. km. Perhaps the most well-known place in Feltham is the Feltham Young Offenders Institution, a prison for young people that has repeatedly been in the news over claims of racism amongst its staff.
It is currently undergoing a redevelopment of its town centre, which once was a fairly thriving shopping area complete with market, decent high street names such as Woolworths, Rumbelows (before it went bankrupt) and Radio Rentals, a wide selection of top supermarkets like Tesco, Sainsbury's and Lidl and many different banks. However, many of these shops closed down and a mass of vacant shops only went on to strengthen Feltham's image as a rubbish, "chav"-infested hell-hole. It is hoped that the redevelopment (which will include a new block of luxury apartments, new shops such as WHSmith, Argos and Matalan, a health centre, improved library and signposts clearly labelling all these places) will rid Feltham of this tarnished image and return it to its mildly alright status of previous years.
There is also a KFC in Feltham.
