Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,605 km² (1,006 mi²). 2,590 km² (1,000 mi²) of it is land and 14 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.55% water.

The county is divided into twenty-three townships: Arcade, Bryant, Centerville, Clark, Devoe, Ellisville, Emerson, Enterprise, Fairview, Freedom, Hillsdale, Irving, Lafoon, Myron, O'Neil, Orient, Pioneer, Saratoga, Sherman, Tamworth, Union, Wesley, and Zell; and two areas of unorganized territory: Pulaski and Southwest Faulk.
