Fairlight (DAW)
|
The Fairlight CMI (computer musical instrument) was an expensive computer system used for music sequencing in the 1980s. It cost US$100,000 when first released and was notoriously difficult to program, but was an important predecessor to today's more inexpensive, flexible audio production tools.
Fairlight, the Australian company behind the CMI, continues to produce audio recording consoles.
