Eubulides of Miletus
|
Eubulides of Miletus was a Greek philosopher who formulated the liar paradox in the 4th century BC.
He was the successor of Eucleides of Megara, the founder of the Megarian school of philosophy. Besides paradoxes, Megarian logic focused on the logic of whole propositions, in contrast to Aristotle's logic of predicates.
Another paradox attributed to Eubulides is falakros or The Bald Man. A man with one hair is bald, or two hairs, but where do you draw the line as to how many hairs there can be before the man is not bald? This is the same as the Sorites paradox.
