Plot summary
Jade Butterfield and David Axelrod, both teenagers, fall in love with each other. But the passion is perceived as too consuming by Jade's parents. The parents try to stop them from seeing each other. But when that does not work, David burns down their house and is sent away to a mental hospital. That still did not stop him from seeing her. When David got out on parole, he went to look for Jade. But at the end the passion for his first love for her was too strong. Jade had to leave, or this love will kill both of them.

- The film's theme song, recorded by Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, was a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. "Endless Love" was later covered by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross in 1994.
