Ellenburg is a town located in Clinton County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,812.
The Town of Ellenburg is on the west border of the county.
Geography
The west town line is the border of Franklin County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 278.2 km² (107.4 mi²). 275.7 km² (106.4 mi²) of it is land and 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.90% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,812 people, 703 households, and 485 families residing in the town. The population density is 6.6/km² (17.0/mi²). There are 941 housing units at an average density of 3.4/km² (8.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.79% White, 0.06% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 0.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 703 households out of which 30.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% are non-families. 25.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
